Mikhail Maksimochkin wins at Russian Nationals

About eight months after the last Olympic Winter Games, the Russian national Championships were now held on the hills in Sochi.

Mikhail Maksimochkin took both men's individual titles there on the past days. On Thursday he won on the normal hill with jumps on 96.5 m and 106.5 m and 259.0 points. The second place went to Vladislav Boyarintsev with 96.5 m and 105 m (255.5 points). Anton Kalinitschenko came in third with 244.0 points (96 m and 104 m).

In the large hill competition on Monday, the 21-year-old then stood on top of the podium with 134.5 m and 135.5 m and 270.0 points. Ilmir Hazetdinov was second with 131.5 m and 136 m (265.0 points), Alexander Sardyko finished third with 130 m and 134.5 m (254.6 points).

The win in the Junior's competition on the normal hill went to Vadim Shishkin with 244.0 points (97 m and 101.5 m), Sergey Shulaev (93.5 m and 98 m; 230.5 points) and Arthur Sultangulov (93.5 m and 99 m; 229.5 points) came in second and third. Alexander Bazhenov won on the large hill (121 m and 124 m; 213.0 points), ahead of Vadim Shishkin (115 m and 126.5 m; 203.2 points) and Arthur Sultangulov (120.5 m and 115 m; 193.2 points). 

Team titles to Nizhniy Nowgorod

With a total of 433.5 points, Nizhniy Nowgorod, with Natalya Solovyeva, Denis Kornilov, Maria Zotova and Mikhail Maksimochkin, won the mixed team competition, followed by Perm 1 (Xenia Kablukova, Georgiy Chervyakov, Anastasiya Gladysheva, Alexey Kamynin; 414.0 points) and Moscow (Alexandra Kustova, Dimitry Vassiliev, Anna Zhukova, Ilmir Hazetdinov; 410.5 points).

In the men's team competition on the large hill, the title went to the athletes of Nizhniy Nowgorod 1, represented by Alexander Shuvalov, Andrej Pachin, Roman Trofimov and Mikhail Maksimochkin, with 967.6 points. They were followed by the teams of Nizhniy Nowgorod 2 (Sergey Shulaev, Ivan Lanin, Alexander Sardyko, Denis Kornilov; 920.2 points) and Perm (Sergey Kulikov, Egor Usachev, Alexey Kamynin, Georgiy Chervyakov; 899.7 points).

Sofya Tikhonova won the ladies' competition with 215.0 points (90.5 m and 94.5 m), ahead of Irina Avvakumova (89 m and 93 m; 207.5 points) and Anastasiya Gladysheva (84 m and 91.5 m; 186.5 points).
