Kaarel Nurmsalu surprisingly announced the end of
his career on Thursday.
The reason for this decision of the 23-year-old
Estonian were financial problems. "Everything
good must come to an end. Despite a lot of effort
over the past 18 months it was not possible to get
the necessary budget together. That's why Kaarel
decided to retire. The reason is simple. The funds
would not have been enough to take the next step",
his fanclub writes in a statement on the facebook
page.
Kaarel Nurmsalu, who was a nordic combined athlete
before his career in ski jumping and won the bronze
medal in both disciplines at the Junior World Championships
2011, made his debut in the World Cup in November
2011. He achieved his best result last March with
a sixth place at the Holmenkollen in Oslo.
