Sports Hall of Fame
Horst Bulau - FIS
Huge honor for Horst Bulau: The 51-year-old is among
the six athletes who will be inducted in the Hall
of Fame of Canadian Sports in 2014.
Bulau was an active ski jumper from 1978 to 1992,
his first big success was winning the Gold medal
at the Junior World Championships 1979.
The athlete of Ontario celebrated a total of 13
wins in the World Cup and achieved 29 podium results.
In the early 1980's he was in the Top 3 of the overall
World Cup three times in a row and 1982/83 he was
third in the 4-Hills-Tournament.
"Horst raised the profile of ski jumping in Canada
through his love of the sport, the love of his country,
and the drive to be the best that he could be. No
ski jumper has even come close to achieving his
success. Horst has chosen to remain in Canada and
volunteers in his community and inspires others
with the love of sport", Canada's Sports Hall of
Fame wrote in the media release.
