Richard Freitag is back on
the German World Cup team

Richard Freitag will be back on the German team
for the World Cup in Lillehammer. He takes the place
of Maximilian Mechler.
About ten weeks after he suffered a fatigue fracture
of the left metatarsal, Richard Freitag will make
his comeback in the World Cup. After the team doctors
gave him the all-clear last week, the 22-year-old
started jumping again. Freitag was training in Ramsau
together with coach Tino Haase and was satisfied
with his first ten jumps. "I didn't feel any pain,
feel fit and want to reach my top level again in
the competitions as soon as possible", said Freitag.
Head coach Werner Schuster is satisfied with how
the healing process went. "Richard was patient and
followed the advice of Dr. Mark Dorfmueller", Schuster
told. "After Richard was able to start with specific
physical and jumping training, it's now important
for him to compete again. Starting on the small
hill in Lillehammer is perfect for that", explained
Schuster.
Richard Freitag is optimistic for his comeback:
"I'm really looking forward to jumping again and
being part of the team. I want to reinforce the
team and I'm motivated to show good performances."
"The start of the season was very demanding, therefore
we appreciate it even more that we were on the podium
in every competition. Richard made his first jumps
on the hill in Ramsau and was doing well. So the
competition on the normal hill offers a good opportunity
to further improve his shape in a competition. We
hope that Richard will be in top shape for the 4-Hills-Tournament
and can be a reinforcement for the team there. At
the same time he will continue his physcial training.
Richard now benefits from the foundation he laid
during summer", Werner Schuster concluded.
