Paolo Bernardi resigns as
coach of US ladies' team
Only three weeks before the start of the ladies'
World Cup season in Lillehammer, Paolo Bernardi
surprisingly steps down as coach of the US team
around the currently injured World Champion Sarah
Hendrickson.
The Italian, who was coaching the Americans since
2011, announced his decision on facebook. "I
resign for personal reasons and it was a hard decision....I
keep loving and following this sport and I hope
to find another team soon that can give me the motivation
to start again", he wrote.
Under his tutelage as World Cup coach of the US
women's team Sarah Hendrickson took the overall
World Cup and the World Championship title, the
team won the Nation's Cup twice.
Erik Renmaelmo was now hired as travelling coach
and will replace Bernardi. The Norwegian will work
alongside head coach Alan Alborn in the upcoming
Olympic winter.
