Three weeks before the World Cup opening in front
of their home crowd, the German Ski Association
(DSV) now named its team for the two competitions
in the Vogtland-Arena in Klingenthal.
The team of head coach Werner Schuster will be represented
by Severin Freund, Andreas Wellinger, Michael Neumayer,
Andreas Wank, Karl Geiger, Marinus Kraus and Maximilian
Mechler.
Marinus Kraus earned his spot on the team with his
overall win of the Continental Cup this summer,
Maximlian Mechler replaces the injured Richard Freitag,
who hopes to compete in the World Cup again maybe
already before the 4-Hills-Tournament.
This means that veteran Martin Schmitt could not
qualify for the World Cup team at the beginning
of his last season. "It's not enough right
now", Werner Schuster said at an event of the
DSV in Eiching, Germany. But the four-time World
Champion still has the chance to return to the World
Cup in the foreseeable future. "Martin is better
than at the same time last year. And back then he
improved his shape enormously until the 4-Hills-Tournament."
